Gratitude, Resilience, and the Final Push: Let’s Make Tomorrow Count

As we approach Election Day, I would like to take a moment to share some heartfelt gratitude and memorable moments from the campaign trail. Tomorrow, the polls will be open, and every vote will shape the future of Princeton’s Board of Education. If you haven’t voted yet, this is our final chance to make our voices heard, to champion balanced and thoughtful leadership.

An Evening of Gratitude and Manifesting Positivity

On October 16, we held a supporter appreciation event and fundraiser—a celebration of the warmth, support, and incredible community that has gathered around this campaign. Unfortunately, this event conflicted with the Princeton Parents for the Black Children Forum, which I was unable to attend as I had already reserved the restaurant beforehand. I made sure to inform the organizers in advance of my scheduling conflict. I know that it might seem unusual to celebrate before the final vote, but I firmly believe in expressing gratitude along the way. Showing appreciation isn’t just about thanks; it’s a way to manifest the future we want to build.

The event was more than I could have imagined. I met so many wonderful people who came with a generous spirit and even offered to help distribute over 700 door hangers after the event. We’ve had even more students get involved, motivated to make a difference in their community. It reminded me that this campaign isn’t just about one election; it’s about empowering ourselves to stand for what we believe in.

The Strength of Our Young Volunteers

One of the most inspiring parts of this journey has been the dedication of our high school volunteers. This past weekend, four of these incredible students joined me at the Princeton Shopping Center and Hinds Plaza to hand out business cards and spread the word. With courage and enthusiasm, they braved the busy plazas, undeterred by the occasional challenge.

However, as we anticipated, we encountered some resistance. At one point, a woman came up to us, visibly angry, and accused me of being a liar. I never had met or spoken to her before, so I calmly asked what, specifically, she believed I had lied about. She couldn’t name anything but kept on, unable to control her frustration even in front of a teenager. While I was there to de-escalate, his quiet support gave me strength, and I couldn’t help but feel that he was the ones protecting me. I realized it could have been more intense if I’d been there alone.

Our young volunteers exemplify resilience and commitment, and witnessing their bravery was a powerful reminder of why I am committed to this race. I told them beforehand that moments like this might happen, but they rose to the occasion, showing our community what courage and respect look like in action.

Tomorrow is Our Moment

Election Day is finally here, and it’s time to bring all our efforts to the finish line. I am so grateful for each of you—for those who volunteered, those who showed up at our supporter event, those who encouraged me along the way, and for those who believe in the need for balance in our schools.

If you have yet to vote, please make it a priority tomorrow. Take a friend, bring a neighbor, and encourage everyone you know to cast their ballot. Together, we can build a Board of Education that values every child and fosters a community we all can be proud of.

Thank you for your belief in this vision, and for standing alongside me. Let’s make tomorrow a day of unity and progress for Princeton.
